Alright. Ya’ll know I don’t follow politics. In fact, I pretty much hate politics. It is the vein of misery for me wherever I go — deer camp, home, work, etc. Talking politics is a guaranteed argument no matter what.
You have people like my brother that eats, sleeps and breathes republican and if you don’t, you’re nothing or just one of those “liberal Madisonians living on 40 acres surrounded by reality.”
Whatever.
But, this is a new year. This year has me STOKED for the presidential race. I am actually interested, engaged and thrilled about politics. To those of you in politics, take note. This race is what political figures like you needed. A stirring of the pot as you might say.
By now you’ve figured out that I totally dig Sarah Palin. This chic is for me. She likes to hunt, fish, take no shit from her council, believes in family values, married her high school sweetheart, understands and lives with a child with special needs and pretty much is normal person just like me. Her and her family experience every day issues just like the rest of us. In fact, she said it herself in her speech:
Our family has the same ups and downs as any other … the same challenges and the same joys.
And, she believes in her country, those fighting for it, and those willing to die for it:
My family is proud of both of them and of all the fine men and women serving the country in uniform.
She gave credit where credit was due: her parents. Her parents gave her opportunities to make something more of her life. A huge thanks to them for teaching her that women can have the same opportunities as our male counterparts:
And among the many things I owe them is one simple lesson: that this is America, and every woman can walk through every door of opportunity.
Finally, let’s not forget the great speech Rudy Giuliani gave. One word: Wow! Way to knock it out of the park Giuliani. My favorite line in your speech?
One final point. And how — how dare they question whether Sarah Palin has enough time to spend with her children and be vice president. How dare they do that.
When do they ever ask a man that question? When?
That’s right. How can America criticize a woman wanting to work, support her country, pay taxes, be on the PTO and not do the same to a man?
Sarah, you have my support!

Let’s see… you like that she admits to her family having up and downs? Yeah, Obama has said that, too. You like that she respects the troops? Yeah, Obama has said that, too. You like that she gives credit to her parents? Yep, Obama has said that (wrote about it in his book, even), too.
As too Rudy’s hate-filled speech, and your comment about asking Palin those kinds of questions… You must have been really upset at all the unfair questions they asked Hillary when she was running, too.
Somehow I doubt it.
Hm, thanks for proving my opening statement:
Everyone has their candidate and clearly your choice is Obama. I can say that McCain is not my first choice. Like many other Americans, I voted earlier this year and my vote was wasted because of our screwed up system of using delegates. The American people voted for their choice and the Democratic party decided to go with another candidate. It’s not that I don’t like Obama. In fact, I do and wished that he had waited to enter the political race years from now but he didn’t.
So, I will make the best of the choices presented to me. Fortunately, having Sarah Palin on the ticket makes it all the better. Either way, come November, one of us will have our candidate in the the White House and the other will be waiting four more years for another chance of having their vote count.
